The River Parish Transit Authority (RPTA) was created by special Louisiana legislation for the purpose of providing regional transit service covering St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes. The RPTA is governed by a seven person board with representation from each parish. RPTA provides a general public demand-response service in St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes with connectivity to St. James Parish and the City of Kenner's transit systems.

RPTA has a contract with Transdev to operate the service. Transdev provides drivers and dispatchers who are under the supervision of an operations manager assigned to the RPTA. Solutient provides fiscal/accounting and grant and contract management services.

RPTA operates five 10-12 passenger vehicles. Each vehicle is equipped with a wheel chair lift and can accommodate two wheelchair passengers. Service is curb to curb, meaning passengers will be picked up and dropped off at that point along the public street nearest to the point they wish to get on or off the bus. Vehicles cannot enter private property including shopping center parking areas. Due to the size of these small buses, drivers may have difficulty turning around or maneuvering on short and narrow public lanes and as a result riders attempting to leave or reach points along such lanes may be requested to meet the bus at the closest corner.
