Profile of System
Lafayette Transit System provides public transportation within Lafayette Parish. Service is provided on seven routes with eleven buses in use at peak service. The system utilizes a downtown hub with route headways of 30 minutes. All heavy duty buses are 35 foot low floor ADA accessible (ramp) buses. The paratransit service is provided by a contract vendor. The current contractor is Acadiana Transit System. The vendor provides 6 ADA accessible buses in service whenever the fixed route system is running. Para transit users must be prequalified by the Lafayette Transit System or any other paratransit service. Service is demand response 24 hours in advance but same day service is available on a limited basis.
