Profile of System
Since 1906, the City of Monroe has operated the Monroe Transit System (MTS). Ten scheduled fixed routes serve the Monroe area. MTS fleet is 100% ADA accessible, and MTS also offers Complementary paratransit service through its ADA Complementary Paratransit Transportation program for persons unable to use the fixed route service. Persons must qualify for ADA Complementary Transportation service and schedule transportation 24 hours in advance.

Profile of System
The West Ouachita Public Transportation System began operation in 1983 to provide safe, courteous, reliable, and cost effective transportation service to the residents of western Ouachita Parish. West Ouachita Public Transit (WOPT) has successfully fulfilled this mission for over 30 years by providing transit access within the service area to non-emergency vital destinations such as : medical, employment, senior center, social service org., etc.
To ensure your safety, all transportation drivers are required to have CDL licenses with passenger endorsement, receive LA-DOT driver PASS training, and participate in Federal and State required drug testing. All vehicles are ADA wheelchair accessible and meet LA-DOT safety specifications.

West Ouachita Public Transit is committed to the safe operation of its vehicles, including the safe boarding and de-boarding of passengers. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity.

WOPT offers TTY voice and hearing carry-over, speech-to-speech services.

Non-Emergency Transportation Program
OCA operates Monday thru Friday, utilizing 7 vans to transport seniors and disabled persons to non-emergency destinations, such as doctor appointments, dialysis, heart and rehab centers, as well as to the Senior Center in Monroe. We take seniors shopping on a limited basis, supplied only to those living in senior housing complexes operated by Monroe Housing Authority.
