| Allen Parish Transit |
Allen Council on Aging through its Transportation Department, Allen Parish Transit, has served the general public with certified transportation through three transportation programs: Rural Pubic Transportation, Elderly & Disabled Transportation, and Non-Emergency Medical Transit (NEMT). ACOA's drivers are courteous, dedicated and well-trained, and each vehicle is clean and well maintained. All but one of the fleet is wheelchair accessible. Drivers serve threshold to threshold.
Elderly and Disabled Transportation must be booked locally by 9:00 am the day of the trip and a donation is expected from each client; wheelchair clients do not have to have an escort unless it is deemed necessary. Clients booking demand service for Rural Public Transportation and/or NEMT, throughout the State of Louisiana, must book at least 24 hours in advance of the trip and are expected to pay the fee to the driver at the beginning of the trip unless possessing a full Medicaid card. Medicaid clients must book with a scheduling agency rather than ACOA. All children under the age of 18 years, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. |
