Certification is required if someone is working as an inspector on a DOTD project. The type of certification depends upon the type of job - DOTD offers six certifications. Getting the certifications involves self-study courses, a written test and a performance evaluation. Six months experience in the certification area is required before taking the performance evaluation. DOTD does not teach certification courses. All training is self-study or on-the-job training.
