(CDL) Commercial Drivers License
Commericial drivers licenses (CDL) are handled by Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV). Commercial drivers employed in the transportation industry keep the wheels of commerce turning across Louisiana. It is the Louisiana OMV that issues commercial driver's licenses (CDL) in Louisiana.
The renewal of CDLs is also uder the jurisdiction of the OMV. And, if you ever lose your Louisiana CDL or have it stolen, you can order a replacement through the OMV. In addition to the issuance of commercial driver's licenses, the Louisiana OMV also takes on the responsibility setting the educational requirements for those who drive commercial vehicles in Louisiana. States must meet minimum federal guidelines regarding education and eligibility standards, but Louisiana determines additional requirements as well.
