LIVONIA- The US 190 safety project in Point Coupee Parish is on track and scheduled to be completed by this Christmas, announces the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The project will replace the existing guardrail from 1,000 feet west of La 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish to Krotz Springs, as well as add three J-turns near Livonia.

Currently, all guardrails east of Livonia are replaced, with the exception of the J-turn openings. The contractor is replacing the guardrails west of Livonia and has started removing the roadway and shoulder in preparation for the concrete and lime subgrade treatment and asphalt base course at the three J-turn locations.

The purpose of the project is to improve safety by limiting the number of left turn and rear-end conflict points along US 190. For more information, click here.
