Reminder Essen Lane East Baton Rouge
Monday, February 29, 2016 at 3:59:33 PM
All three southbound travel lanes on LA 3064 (Essen Lane) will be temporarily shifted between Hennessy Boulevard and Picardy Avenue. The restriping operation will be on Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. After restriping, all existing travel lanes will be open except for the center-turn lane from Hennessy Boulevard and Picardy Avenue. This traffic shift is to allow utility companies to relocate existing utilities for the future widening of Essen Lane.

You can find a graphic of the closure on the Essen Project Page.

(1) Drivers on Essen Lane, between Margaret Ann and Picardy Avenues, will encounter alternating lane closures Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Construction crews will be re-striping the roadway in advance of a traffic shift.

(2) Following the re-striping work, the current Essen Lane northbound right lane, between the railroad crossing and Margaret Ann Avenue, will be re-opened. The Essen Lane southbound right lane, between Hennessy Boulevard and Picardy Avenue, will be closed to accommodate relocation of underground water and natural gas lines.

(3) The right lane of Essen Lane southbound will remain closed at the Ward’s Creek Bridge. Construction crews are working to widen southbound travel lanes on the bridge.

Wide loads will be restricted to 18 feet until further notice.

Work may be canceled in the event of adverse weather conditions. Proper notification will be sent if the work is rescheduled.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

If there are any questions or concerns regarding any of these closures, please contact the Project Engineer, Roy Payne, at (225) 231-4123. Thank you.
