**UPDATE**
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Developement (DOTD) advises the public that the road closure scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, 2015 for LA 486 - Natchitoches Parish, will now be closed on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 8:00a.m. This is an effort to have the contractor begin work as soon as possible to try and complete the pipe installation prior to the Christmas Holidays.
The public is reminded that the actual work is significantly dependent on weather conditions as the repair involves major earthwork to remove the existing pipe and install the new one.

LA 486; NATCHITOCHES PARISH
SOUTH JCT US 71 – NORTH JCT US 71

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that starting Wednesday, December 9, 2015, there will be a road closure 0.18 miles from the South junction of the US 71/LA 486 intersection to replace a failing pipe on LA 486. It is anticipated the road will remain closed until 12/24/2015 to complete the work.
The scope of work for the project included Drainage Structures, SUPERPAVE Asphaltic Concrete Pavement, and Pavement Striping. This project was awarded to Madden Contracting Company on 10/23/2014 for the amount of $4,280,712.11. There are 120 working days allowed for this project.
Permit/Detour section
The road will be closed 0.18 miles from the south junction of US 71/LA486. Detour signs will be located at the south and north junctions of US 71/LA 486.
