DOTD announces no lane and ramp closures during Labor Day weekend for I-10 repairs project; schedule will resume on Friday, September 11

SLIDELL, La. – Due to the upcoming Labor Day weekend, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces there will be no lane or ramp closures for the ongoing project to repave Interstate 10 from French Branch Bridge to the West Pearl River Bridge, in St. Tammany Parish, during the holiday.

The weekend closure schedule will resume on Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. Details will be announced prior to the closure.

The current weekday closure schedule will continue through Friday, Sept. 4, as follows:
• I-10 Eastbound between the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14) (just north of Gause Blvd.) and the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81) (near the I-10 Welcome Center) from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., daily.
• I-10 Westbound between the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81) (near the I-10 Welcome Center) and the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14) (just north of Gause Blvd.) from 6 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., daily.
• I-59 Southbound between the I-59 Rest Area (Mile Post 1) and the I-10/I-59 split (Mile Post 0) from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., daily.
• I-59 Northbound between the I-10/I-59 split (Mile Post 0) and I-59 Rest Area (Mile Post 1) from 7 p.m. to noon, Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open from noon to 7 p.m., daily.
• I-10 Westbound Exit Ramp to I-59 Northbound (Exit 267A) will have a shoulder closure from 8 a.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The exit ramp lane will remain open at all times.

There will be a continuation of the alternating closures of the inside (left) and outside (right) lanes of I-12 eastbound between the I-59 underpass (Mile Post 85.54) and the I-10 merge (Mile Post 86.28) through Friday, Sept. 4 ending at 5 p.m.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times. No oversized loads greater than 12 feet wide will be allowed through the construction zone during lane closures.

Motorists should expect delays and plan routes accordingly. Those wanting to utilize U.S. 90 as a detour should be aware that there are load restrictions on the Pearl River Bridges, which only allow for passenger vehicles. No larger truck traffic will be allowed.

The planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. All work is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer 2016.
