NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an emergency closure of the Judge Seeber (Claiborne Avenue) Bridge. Earlier today, while undergoing maintenance, the counter weight became detached from the steel barrier and is now obstructing the roadway.

The bridge will remain closed to traffic until the barrier can be removed. The barrier serves at the last defense to stop vehicles from going off the structure into the water. DOTD will announce when the bridge can safely reopen to vehicular traffic.

Motorists can access up-to-date travel information by dialing 511 or by visiting www.511la.org. Out of-state travelers can call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).
