LA 1088 Corridor Study
Stage 1 – Environmental Assessment
State Project No. H.010116
St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FWHA) are conducting Stage 1 Planning and Environmental Assessment for proposed improvements to LA 1088, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. Stage 0 studies, completed in 2014, found that improvements to the project are feasible. Stage 1 includes refinement of the Stage 0 concepts and evaluation of the environmental effects of the alternatives. A public meeting is being held to update the public on the status of the study and seek input on the alternatives for proposed improvements to LA 1088.

The purpose of the proposed improvements is to reduce existing congestion and accommodate future traffic demand. The proposed project improvements address the mobility and safety of vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic along LA 1088 between LA 59 (Girod St.) and the I-12 westbound ramps. The total length of the proposed project is approximately 3.5 miles. Conceptual alternatives include constructing roundabouts, highway widening, and the possibility of sidewalks, bike paths, and medians.
