UPDATE: LA 37 (Greenwell Springs Rd) East Baton Rouge Parish

Replacement of the Whitten Creek Bridge is complete and LA 37, Greenwell Springs Road, 2.8 miles south of the East Feliciana Parish line will be re-opened to traffic effective immediately. This work was completed within the originally estimated 8 week timeframe. DOTD appreciates the patience exhibited by the local residents and the traveling public during this necessary bridge closure.
Beginning on June 22, 2015, LA 37 will be closed 2.8 miles south of the East Feliciana Parish line, just south of Baywood. The purpose of this closure is to remove and replace the Whitten Creek Bridge due to the age and deteriorated condition of the structure. The installation of a new bridge will eliminate current load limitations that are in effect for the existing structure over Whitten Creek. We expect this work to last approximately eight (8) weeks. Please use alternate routes during this timeframe. The posted detour route for LA 37 southbound will be LA 37 SB to LA 63 WB to LA 959 WB to LA 409 SB back to LA 37. The posted detour route for LA 37 Northbound will be LA 37 NB to LA 409 NB to LA 959 EB to LA 63 EB back to LA 37.
