The current closure for the Houma Navigation Canal Bridge crossing the Houma Navigation Canal on LA 661 in Houma, LA is scheduled to end May 25, 2015. The bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic starting on May 25th and during the week day, but will be closed in accordance with the schedule shown below:
• Closed nightly from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Monday May 25, 2015 thru Friday May 29, 2015
• Closed continuously from 6:00 PM Friday May 29, 2015 thru 6:30 AM Monday June 1, 2015.
• Closed nightly from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Monday June 1, 2015 thru Friday June 5, 2015
• Closed continuously from 6:00 PM Friday June 5, 2015 thru 6:30 AM Monday June 8, 2015.
• Closed nightly from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Monday June 8, 2015 thru Friday June 12, 2015
• Closed continuously from 6:00 PM Friday June 12, 2015 thru 6:30 AM Monday June 15, 2015.
• Closed nightly from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Monday June 15, 2015 thru Friday June 19, 2015
• Closed continuously from 6:00 PM Friday June 19, 2015 thru 6:30 AM Monday June 22, 2015.
• Closed nightly from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM Monday June 22, 2015 thru Friday June 26, 2015
• Closed continuously from 6:00 PM Friday June 26, 2015 thru 6:30 AM Monday June 29, 2015.
These closure(s) to vehicular traffic are needed in order to allow LADOTD’s contractor to perform structural, mechanical, and electrical work as part of a multi-million dollar rehabilitation project.
Alternate routes available around the Houma Navigation Canal bridge closure(s) are as follows:
LA 661 (South Van Ave.) to LA 57 (Grand Caillou Road) to LA 3040 (Tunnel Blvd.) to LA 182 (Barrow St.) to LA 315.
LA 661 (South Van Ave.) to LA 24 (Twin Span Bridge) to LA 182 (Barrow St.) to LA 315.
