LA 1 Bridge Replacement over Bayou Jean Dejean; Rapides Parish, Road Closure

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that beginning Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at approximately 7:00am, the LA 1 Bridge spanning over Bayou Jean Dejean will be closed. The purpose of this closure is for the demolition of the existing bridge structure and replacement with a new Type IV Girder Bridge. This closure will be continuous throughout the life of the project which will last approximately (6) six months.

Permit/Detour section

General public traffic and permitted load traffic will be required to be detoured onto Interstate 49. Appropriate detour signage will be installed and detour directions are listed below:

 

·         Traffic proceeding north on LA 1 will need to detour onto I-49 at the I-49/LA 1200 Interchange (Exit 99). Traffic can then return back onto LA 1 at the I-49/LA 8 Interchange (Exit 103).

·         Traffic proceeding south on LA 1 will need to detour onto I-49 at the I-49/LA 8 Interchange (Exit 103). Traffic can then return back onto LA 1 at the I-49/ LA 1200 Interchange (Exit 99).
