DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT
St. John the Baptist Parish

The Regional Planning Commission (RPC) has prepared, and the Federal Highway Administration has approved for public distribution, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for a proposed new connector between US 61 (Airline Drive) and I-10 in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana . The RPC is inviting interested citizens to attend a Public Hearing on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement document.

The Hearing location, and time is as follows:
Date: Thursday, May 14, 2015
Time: 6:00 p. m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Regala Park Gymnasium
200 Regala Park Drive.
Reserve, LA 70084

Project Location and Scope: The proposed new connector includes a a new roadway extending northward from LA 637 (W. 10th Street/Regala Park Drive) at US 61 (Airline Drive) and continues northward to I-10, where it would intersect that highway with a new interchange.. The entire project length is approximately 2.5 miles.
Detailed information relative to the project is available to those interested through copies of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). This information is available for review and/or purchase at the Department’s District 62 office, located at 685 N Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70401. Copies of this document will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting this information, and at a cost equal to the Department’s cost of reproduction. The DEIS is also available for review at the Federal Highway Administration Division Office at 5304 Flanders Drive, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA, at the LADOTD Environmental Section Office, 1201 Capitol Access Road, Room 504D, Baton Rouge, LA, and at the Regional Planning Commission Office, 10 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124. The DEIS is also available for review at the following St. John the Baptist Parish libraries: the Central Library (2920 Highway 51, LaPlace, LA 70068) and the Reserve Branch Library (170 West 10th Street, Reserve, LA 70084). The document can also be accessed online at the RPC’s website at: http://www.norpc.org/

Public Hearing Details: Detailed information of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will be presented at the Public Hearing. The purpose of the Public Hearing will be to receive comment and input on the DEIS. All interested persons or their representatives are invited to be present at the above time and place for the purpose of becoming acquainted with the highway improvements being considered. Attendees will be afforded an opportunity to express their views concerning the proposed project’s specific location, major design features, and the probable social, economic, and environmental effects involved as described in the DEIS document. Oral comments will be received at the Hearing. To enable statements to be presented within a reasonable time period, and for the accuracy of the official hearing record, it is suggested that oral comments be supplemented by written comments.
