Construction of the Roundabouts on US 51 Business at I-12 in Hammond will begin on Monday March 9.
The project is broken up into three major phases. First to be construction is the roundabout at U.S. 51B and Club Deluxe.
Work is scheduled to start on the roundabout at Club Deluxe on March 9, 2015. Traffic will be maintained, except for a period of 15 days in mid-April (tentatively scheduled) when Club Deluxe will be closed. An update will be sent out when the date for the closure is confirmed.
• Traffic will be detoured on Fagan Drive during the 15-day closure of Club Deluxe. (Club Deluxe to S. Morrison Blvd. to Fagan Dr.)
• Estimated completion of the Club Deluxe roundabout is this June, weather permitting.
Once Club Deluxe is complete, construction will begin on the roundabouts at the interstate ramps and U.S. 51B. Tentative completion date is April 2016.
• One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on U.S. 51 at all times.
• Ramp work will require occasional nighttime closures.
The third phase, between the interstate ramps and Club Deluxe, is tentatively scheduled to be complete in July 2016.
