DOTD announces extended closure for US 90 improvement project
Friday, January 30, 2015 at 2:38:43 PM
Beginning Monday, February 2, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will close the Interstate 10 West on-ramp from West Stadium Drive (west side of the Superdome) to begin a $3.6 million project to improve safety, visibility and capacity on this stretch of U.S. 90. The closure will remain in effect for the duration of the project, which is scheduled for completion by late fall 2015.

The project involves:

• Building a small bridge on the entrance ramp to I-10 westbound from the Superdome to improve safety and visibility for motorists.
• Installing one ramp meter by the entrance ramp to I-10 westbound from the Superdome.
• Restriping the elevated portion of U.S. 90B near the Superdome from two to three lanes.

Next week, overhead directional signs will be covered and equipment will be mobilized. During the construction period, alternate routes when exiting the Superdome area toward I-10 West include:

• Cypress Street to Tulane Avenue (enter I-10 West at S. Carrollton Avenue) via Julia Street and Galvez Street.
• Dave Dixon Drive to Loyola Avenue to access the Pontchartrain Expressway (I-10 West).
• Poydras Street (Lake Bound) via Clara Street or LaSalle Street and to access I-10 West from the Poydras Street on-ramp.
