The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on August 11th 2014 Construction will begin on LA 471 and LA 3136 in Winn Parish. This work will begin on LA 471 at the Grant/Winn parish line and proceed 6.6 miles northward to the edge-of-travel of LA 34 in the Atlanta community, and at LA 3136 begin on the edge-of-travel of LA 34 and proceed 0.75 miles southward and eastward to the edge-of-travel of Pacton-Alexandria Road (Parish Road 817).

The intent of this project is to cut 12” of subgrade cement and lime treatment, cut 12” of soil cement, a two lift chip seal, and then overlay the roadway with 3 ½ inches of Superpave Asphaltic Concrete. Associate work includes replacing several cross drain pipes, placing aggregate surface course shoulders, pavement striping, and replacing existing mailboxes.

The contractor will be required to maintain thru traffic at all times, but periodic lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions.

The project was awarded to the low bidder, W.E. McDonald and Son, LLC. in the amount of $3,238,918.01 The work associated with this project should take approximately 90 working days to complete.

Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be maintained so there will be no detour routes for this project or width restrictions.
