The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that, weather permitting, LA 8 will be closed on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in order to allow a large diameter pipe to be replaced. The pipe is located in the Temple area and is approximately 3.9 miles east of the intersection of LA 8 with its East junction to LA 465. The contractor has extended the closure due to unforeseeen circumstances and the roadway is scheduled to be reopened on the afternoon of Thursday, August 7, 2014.
Permit/Detour section
The contractor intends to begin work on July 29, 2014. This portion of the roadway will be closed to all thru traffic from Tuesday, July 29, 2014 through Tuesday, August 5, 2014. All traffic approaching the project along LA 8 from the West will be detoured via LA 465 South to LA 28 East to US 71 (MacArthur Drive) North to I-49 North and back to LA 8 West. All traffic approaching the project along LA 8 from the East will be detoured via LA 8 East to I-49 South to US 71 (MacArthur Drive) South to LA 28 West to LA 465 North and back to LA 8.
