MANDEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an update on the project to widen U.S. Highway 190 from La. 22 to Lonesome Road in St. Tammany Parish, an $11.3 million capacity improvement project.

The prime contractor has crews installing drainage structures, pouring curb transitions and performing other incidental work in preparation for the shifting of traffic into the next phase of construction. This traffic shift is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014, pending the current weather forecast.

The asphalt subcontractor crews began asphalt operations Wednesday, May 7 and will continue paving thru Friday, May 9.

Other work performed includes the following.

·  The bridge contractor delivered sections of the crane to be assembled onsite.

o
Demolition of the existing box culvert is currently scheduled to begin on May 13.

·  Primary contractor had a layout error which required the removal and replacement of road base, and curb and gutter between Cherry Creek and Lonesome Road.

·  Asphalt work completed on the westbound roadway between Lonesome Road and immediately east of the Meadowbrook/U.S. 190 intersection.

The current completion timeframe is November 2014, which is subject to change pending weather, change orders and any additional work requests. DOTD project engineers continue to work with direction from DOTD Headquarters to assist the contractor in expediting the construction process and resolving any issues that arise as efficiently as possible.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
