The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that, weather permitting, the roadway will be closed to allow construction work to begin on the LA 8 Bridge Replacement Project on Monday, April 7, 2014 and will continue for approximately (1) one month. This bridge replacement project is located on LA 8 approximately 0.06 miles east of its intersection with LA 465. This 0.059 mile long bridge replacement project will receive clearing and grubbing, removal of existing timber bridge, replacement with reinforced concrete box culverts and superpave asphaltic concrete pavement.

The project was awarded to the low bidder, Regional Construction, LLC in the amount of $222,427.65.

Permit/Detour section
The contractor intends to begin removal of the existing bridge on April 7, 2013. This portion of the roadway will be closed to all thru traffic from Monday, April 7, 2014 through Saturday, April 26, 2014. All traffic approaching the project along LA 8 West will be detoured via LA 121 to LA 28 to LA 465 and back to LA 8. All traffic approaching the project along LA 8 East will be detoured via LA 465 to LA 28 to LA 121 and back to LA 8. Beginning April 27, 2014, the roadway will be open to all traffic, however, work will continue and traffic may be reduced to one lane for construction work.
