Weeks Island Bridge Project

The project is moving ahead, and the contractor remains on schedule for completion of Stumpy Bayou Bridge near the end of May.

The first 20-foot section of bridge deck was poured this past week.  Additionally, crews formed up and placed concrete for bent-5 cap and extension wall of bent-4. Extension wall helps transition the height of the deck between some spans. Prep work began for forming of north side caps (Bents 7, 8, & 9) as well as preparing form work for additional deck work.

Work will continue on removing portions of the old bridge as well as driving piles on both the north and south sides of the bridge. We are also preparing to place a 200-ton crane back on barge for work on placing steel girders the following week.
