New Orleans, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminds Grand Isle residents that per House Bill 636, permanent residents will be exempt from the payment of tolls when crossing the Tomey J. Doucet Bridge by purchasing the exempt sticker toll tag for $12.50, starting Sunday, August 15.

To qualify as a permanent Grand Isle resident, patrons will be required to present a certificate of motor vehicle registration, with a Grand Isle address, and one of the following three (3) documents as proof of residency:

(1) A [valid] official Louisiana driver’s license.
(2) Proof of homestead exemption.
(3) A voter registration card.

For Grand Isle residents, online Geaux Pass account services will be disabled due to the conversion to non-revenue accounts for the exempt stickers. Residents will need to either call into the La. 1 Customer Service Center at 866-662-8987 and fax proof of residency to (504) 376-8189, or come in person to present proof of residency at the office located in Golden Meadow on 1821 La. 3235 (also known as "The Back Road").

Every vehicle will need a sticker toll pass. For instances where there are multiple vehicles insured and parked daily at a residence (household), those drivers must appear in person to present proof of residency with the aforementioned documentation.

Patrons currently utilizing the existing hard case tags must turn in the case tags for credit or refund and purchase sticker tags that show vehicle registration with a Grand Isle address for each vehicle. Upon purchase of the sticker tag, if patrons have multiple vehicles, they must choose which single vehicle to associate with their current sticker tag and purchase additional sticker tags for each qualifying vehicle.
