BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Secretary William D. Ankner today announced that the department has executed a design-build contract to widen I-10 in Baton Rouge to six lanes from Siegen Lane to Highland Road and to replace the existing 44-year-old bridge over the Kansas City Southern railroad with a new bridge. Work will begin this spring and will finish by the end of 2012.

Prime contractor Boh Bros. Construction Co. LLC leads the design-build team. The rest of the design-build team consists of James Construction Group LLC , Volkert & Associates Inc., Evans-Graves Engineers Inc., Aquaterra Engineering Inc., and Tolunay-wong Engineers Inc.

This $60 million project is 100-percent funded by stimulus funds received from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Given the time constraints of the ARRA program, this project could only be undertaken using design-build process.
