Causeway Blvd. Interchange (Phase I)
Jefferson Parish

October 6, 2009

Work began on this project April 6, 2009 and will be complete in winter 2010.
Crews continue constructing concrete footings, columns, and caps for the new North Causeway Boulevard to I-10 westbound on-ramp. The steel girders over I-10 have been installed.

The new I-10 West to Veterans ramp is complete.  On Thursday, October 8, the off-ramp traffic will be shifted to the new ramp. When the project is complete, this ramp will be exclusively for I-10 west to Veterans traffic. However, during construction, Vets and North Causeway traffic will exit on this ramp until the new I-10 West to North Causeway elevated ramp is built next year.

Along the ground-level portion of North Causeway Boulevard north of I-10 crews continue installing drainage pipes. This work is nearing completion.  When this work is complete, crews will begin work on the new roadway, sidewalks and driveways.

Throughout the project site crews continue with additional drainage pipe installation, concrete barrier walls, curbs and fences.

CURRENT LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES

Lane closures on ground-level North Causeway north of Veterans continue on most days 6:00 am – 3:00 pm. Left turns from eastbound Veterans onto northbound Causeway are NOT ALLOWED 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. There will also be periodic closures of side streets off Causeway as crews install sewer and water pipes across the side streets.

On October 8, the North Causeway exit to Veterans Boulevard will close for four months while crews construct the future off-ramp from North Causeway to Veterans, the future westbound off-ramp from I-10 to North Causeway and portions of the future South Causeway fly-over on-ramp to I-10 East.

North Causeway traffic will be re-directed over Veterans where they will u-turn to return on South Causeway to Veterans.

Additionally, I-10 westbound to North Causeway traffic will be redirected to ground level Causeway where they will re-enter Causeway north of Veterans.

Motorists should expect delays, and we ask that you proceed through the project with caution. Be on the lookout for flaggers and construction traffic entering and exiting the highway, side streets and driveways.

Traffic entering and exiting some streets, driveways, businesses and subdivisions will be temporarily inconvenienced while construction continues. If your business or residence has two entrances/exits, one entrance/exit may be closed temporarily during construction operations, but the other entrance will remain open allowing access to your business or residence. If your business has one entrance/exit, we will maintain traffic in and out of the business or residence while crews work across the driveway.

All above-mentioned work schedules are subject to change due to adverse weather. Please see public notices for exact times, dates and cancellations.
