DOTD announces results of July 29 bid letting

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling more than $85 million at its July 29 public bid opening, according to Gov. Bobby Jindal and DOTD Secretary William D. Ankner, Ph.D.

With a bid of $51,314,556.07, Johnson Bros. Corp/F. Miller Joint Venture, Orlando, Fla., was the low bidder on the most expensive job let July 29, a project in Jefferson Parish calling for installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, installing a concrete girder span bridge and related work to replace the Caminada Bay Bridge on La. 1.

Other projects awarded are listed below by parish(es), description, contractor and bid:

Allen – Asphalt overlay, installing a concrete girder span bridge and related work to replace a bridge on Sonnier Road over the Calcasieu River Relief Canal, Guinn Brothers LLC, Jennings, $320,386.

Avoyelles – Asphalt overlay and related work to replace the Fuqua Crossing Bridge over Bayou Rouge, RCS Contractors Inc., Port Allen, $313,753.80.

Caddo – Asphalt overlay and related work on U.S. 171 from the DeSoto Parish line to Baird Road, Madden Contracting Co. Inc., Minden, $1,984,387.73.

Calcasieu – Installing drainage pipe, concrete sidewalks and related work around Vinton Elementary School, Plus Concrete Inc., New Haven, Mich., $195,457.80.

Catahoula, Concordia – Asphalt overlay, sealing asphalt pavement and related work on the northbound lanes of U.S. 425 from U.S. 65 to Foules, D & J Construction Co. Inc., West Monroe, $1,731,423.63.

Franklin – Asphalt overlay, pavement widening and related work on La. 17 from La. 577 South to La. 860, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $2,788,417.15.

Jackson – Asphalt overlay and related work on La. 148 from La. 34 to 1.7 miles south of La. 34, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $708,377.59.

Jackson – Sealing asphalt pavement and related work on La. 505 from U.S. 167 to La. 147, P.R. Parker Company Inc., Shreveport, $295,110.76.

Madison – Asphalt overlay, installing concrete box culverts and related work to replace the Merle Gustafson Road Bridge over Panola Bayou, Dirtworks Inc. of Vicksburg, Vicksburg, Miss., $288,453.40.

Natchitoches – Asphalt overlay, installing a concrete slab span bridge and related work to replace the Hart Road Bridge over Bayou Bourbeaux, James Construction Group LLC, Baton Rouge, $442,779.

Orleans – Landscaping and related work along I-10 from U.S. 90 to Read Boulevard, Twin Shores Landscaping and Construction Services Inc., Metairie, $765,264.
