Perkins Road Construction Update
East Baton Rouge Parish
May 18, 2009
Bluebonnet Boulevard – Essen Lane
Traffic has been moved on to the newly constructed outside lanes of Perkins road between Essen Lane and Bluebonnet Boulevard. Lime and stone for the foundation operations in the new middle lanes are underway. One crew is working on the road foundation, a second crew is working on catch basins and a third crew is making preparations to begin pouring concrete. Motorists are allowed to make left turns on or off of Perkins road at specific locations only.
A fourth crew is working on the Dawson Creek Bridge. All deck spans on the north and south side of the bridge are complete. A few remaining items are being worked on for the outside portions of the bridge. Construction of the center lanes of the bridge is underway.
Within the project limits construction will at times temporarily inconvenience motorist. If your business or residence has two entrances/exits, one entrance/exit will be closed temporarily during construction operations. At all times one of the two driveways will remain open. If your business has one entrance/exit, one-way traffic in and out of the business or residence will be maintained while crews work across the driveway. Motorists should expect delays and proceed through the project with caution and be on the lookout for flaggers and construction traffic entering and exiting the Highway and driveways.
All above mentioned work schedules are subject to change due to adverse weather. See Lane Closure Notifications for exact times and locations of upcoming lane closures.
