DOTD to end sale of ferry tickets across the state

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Based on low utilization and the high cost of production, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces it will end the sale of the ferry tickets. The DOTD will stop selling the tickets as of June 30, 2013.

“The cost of producing, distributing, and handling the script tickets far exceeds the revenue generated,” said Rhett Desselle, DOTD Assistant Secretary for Operations.  “Therefore in order to streamline operations and reduce operating costs, DOTD has decided to discontinue the sale and use of ferry ticket scripts after the fiscal year.”

Tickets purchased prior to June 30 will be valid through the end of the year and will no longer be accepted after December 31, 2013. The cessation of sales will affect the following ferry locations.

  • Algiers
  • Chalmette
  • Plaquemine/Sunshine
  • Cameron/Holly Beach
  • Duty/Enterprise
