NEW ORLEANS, La. – Yesterday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced a temporary suspension of ferry service between Algiers Point and Canal Street, but it is now in receipt of the part needed to complete an emergency repair to the Motor Vessel Frank X. Armiger.

The part to repair the starboard main engine was not available locally and had to be sent overnight. Repairs to the vessel are underway; after which, the U.S. Coast Guard will have to inspect the boat and clear it for operation. DOTD hopes to resume service sometime this afternoon.

DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience and will make an announcement once the vessel is ready to resume service.
