Jefferson Parish, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning February 22, 2023, construction will begin on a $14.8 million major asphalt overlay project to resurface a 6.2-mile section on LA 48 (Jefferson Hwy.) between LA 49 (Williams Blvd.) in Kenner and LA 3152 (Clearview Pkwy., at the base of the Huey P. Long Bridge) in Elmwood.

The project consists of removing and repaving the asphalt driving surface and drainage improvements. Part of the drainage work includes improvements to a key drainage crossing near Plantation Road and Elmwood Park Blvd.

Lane closures will be required to perform the work; so the public should be prepared for delays. To limit inconvenience during peak driving times, lane closures will be limited on weekdays from 9a.m.–3:30 p.m.

The project is estimated to be completed Fall 2024.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
