The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), announces that, weather permitting, work will begin on the US 171: Schweitzer Ave to LA 28 project on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 and will continue for approximately (5) five months. This asphalt patch, mill, and overlay project is located on the northbound lanes of US 171, beginning at the intersection with Schweitzer Ave, proceeding north to approximately 370 feet south of the US 171/LA 28/LA 8 roundabout. This 1.935 mile project will receive drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Gilchrist Construction Company, LLC in the amount of $3,994,445.88.
Permit/Detour Section
The contractor will begin asphalt patching operations on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 and the roadway will be open to all local and through traffic with no restrictions for passenger vehicles and a 12’ wide lane width restriction for all oversize vehicles traveling northbound US 171. There will be lane closures throughout the duration of this project.
