The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will hold an open house meeting to discuss the upcoming LA 73 widening project from Airline Hwy  to I-10 in Ascension Parish.

The meeting will be held on October 27, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Church at 15208 Hwy. 73, Prairieville, La. 70769.

This open-house style meeting will allow the public to learn more about the project and to sign-up to receive periodic e-mail updates. Representatives from DOTD will be in attendance to provide information on the project and answer questions. Additionally, attendees will receive information about GeauxWider, LA 42 and other projects in the area.

This project will reconstruct and widen 2.3 miles of La. 73 from two to three lanes, from Airline Hwy. (U.S. 61) to I-10. The project will add a center turn lane and widen the current width of the driving lanes from 11.5 feet to 12 feet as well as add a 6-foot shoulder on each side. The project will begin late October 2011, and finish Summer 2013.
