CCCD announces French Quarter Festival Ferry Schedule

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's (DOTD) Crescent City Connection Division (CCCD) announced its ferry schedule for this weekend's French Quarter Festival,which is expected to draw record crowds over the annual four-day event.

 CCCD will expand our ferry operations to accommodate the anticipated crowds for the festival as follows:

 Gretna: (pedestrian only)

Thursday, April 7, the Gretna/Canal Street ferry will operate extended hours, making a final trip from Gretna at 9:30 p.m., and a final trip from Canal Street at 10:00 p.m. 

Friday, April 8, the Gretna/Canal Street ferry will operate the normal schedule, beginning at 6:30 a.m. from Gretna, and make the final trip from Canal Street at 11:00 p.m., and from Gretna at 11:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 9, the Gretna/Canal Street ferry will operate the normal schedule, beginning at 12:30 p.m. from Gretna, and make the final trip from Canal Street at 11:00 p.m., and from Gretna at 11:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 10, the Gretna/Canal Street ferry will begin operations at 11:30 a.m. from Gretna, and make the final trip from Gretna at 9:30 p.m., and from Canal Street at 10:00 p.m.

Algiers Point: (pedestrian and vehicle)

Thursday, April 7 - Sunday, April 10,  the Algiers Point/Canal Street ferry will operate the normal schedule, beginning at 6:00 a.m. from Algiers Point, and make the final trip from Algiers Point at midnight, and from Canal Street at 12:15 a.m.

On Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, a second vessel will operate between 11:00 a.m., and 10:00 p.m.

Vehicles will be carried, and tolls will be collected, however, CCCD may suspend vehicle traffic for safety reasons if pedestrian traffic crossing in front of the ferry landing at Canal Street warrants.

Please note, during period of peak passenger loads, vessels may not maintain a set schedule.  During these times, vessel departures will be coordinated by CCCD Police and shore personnel as traffic demand dictates.

All ferries will return to normal operating schedules on Monday, April 11, 2011.
