The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that motorists can expect a traffic shift on LA 12 at the Old River Slough Bridge and the Current Slough Bridge near the Texas state line beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

On Tuesday, traffic on the Old River Slough Bridge will shift to the newly constructed detour route. This will happen in two phases. During the morning, eastbound traffic will move to the detour route, and by the evening, the westbound traffic will shift to detour route. This will allow the contractor to move traffic safely and place all necessary barriers. Once all traffic is shifted, the existing bridge will close for replacement.

Traffic will shift in the same pattern for the Current Slough Bridge on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. By the evening on Wednesday, all traffic will be traveling on the detour route, and the existing bridge will close for replacement.

Work continues on the construction of the detour routes for the Washout Slough, Mud Lake, Hursey Slough and Ashworth bridges near Starks.

The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late 2022. All dates and activity are weather dependent.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with extreme caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
