DOTD announces a project to install a northbound, southbound left-turn lanes on LA 397 (E. Ward Line) at E. McNeese Street

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a project to install northbound and southbound left-turn lanes on LA 397 (E. Ward Line) at E. McNeese Street in Calcasieu Parish.

The $1.1. million project will construct new left turn lanes at the intersection of E. Ward Line and E. McNeese Street to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow at the intersection. The project also includes an overlay of LA 397 at the intersection and drainage work.

The contractor, R. E. Heidt., is expected to begin construction on Monday, October 4, 2021. Lane closures utilizing a flagging operation will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. as needed. Motorists are advised the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph during construction. The entire project is estimated to be complete in early 2022.

There will be 12 foot width restriction. All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
