Black Bayou Bridge (LA 384) set to reopen on Monday by 11 a.m., Calcasieu Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that by 11 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, the Black Bayou Bridge on LA 384 over the Intracoastal Waterway will reopen to vehicle traffic.

Motorists may temporarily see detour signs after opening as the contractor works to remove all traffic control devices and detour signage. Please continue to use caution when driving through the work area as crews finish removing these items.

The Black Bridge has been closed for nearly two weeks to allow the contractor to install the new winch system for the movable bridge.

Intermittent alternating lane closures will occur as needed to complete remaining work. Flaggers will maintain traffic. Remaining work includes the removal of the old winch system and modifications to the bridge house. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in fall 2021, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
