UPDATE: Traffic configuration change: LA 1232, Winn Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has amended the decision to keep the Kyiaies Creek Bridge on LA 1232 in Winn Parish located at mile post 5.79 closed given certain conditions.

This bridge currently has a load rating of 5 tons; however, in a single lane configuration, the bridge has been deemed safe for passenger vehicles only. On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, weather permitting, DOTD will reopen the Kyiaies Creek Bridge in a single lane configuration to local traffic - passenger vehicles ONLY! This configuration will only allow one vehicle to cross the bridge at a time. If two vehicles arrive at the same time, one must yield to the other to cross.

ALL COMMERCIAL VEHICLES ARE PROHIBITED to use this bridge, and all other bridges on LA 1232 due to current load ratings on all four structures. Violators will be cited by the appropriate law enforcement agency for failure to comply. If commercial vehicles do not fully comply with this restriction, the bridge will be closed again and remain closed until replaced with a new structure. Locals are encouraged to report any violations to Louisiana State Police Troop E at (318) 487-5911 and/or the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 628-4611.

DOTD considers the safety of the traveling public to be top priority. Noncompliance from commercial vehicles will not be tolerated at the expense of safety.

Eastbound traffic is currently detoured to LA 501 south to LA 156 east to LA 1232.
