LA 523 Project Widening Update
Monday, January 03, 2011 at 12:25:26 PM

The Flournoy Lucas Road section of the LA 523 widening project is approaching completion. Most of the paving on Flournoy Lucas Road is complete and crews estimate this section will be complete in a month. The Bayou Pierre and Sand Beach Bayou bridge construction is now complete and open for traffic. The Ellerbe Road section of the LA 523 construction will begin once crews have completed Flournoy Lucas Road. Once this section is started, it will take approximately four months to complete.

Once the roadway is completed, it will consist of 5 lanes of concrete paving with curb and gutter drainage throughout the project, which will give drivers four lanes and a continuous center turn lane.

Please use caution as you are driving through the construction zone, and remember the speed limit is 35 mph.

All above-mentioned work schedules are subject to change due to adverse weather. Please see public notices for exact times, dates and cancellations.
