DOTD announces upcoming I-610 closure in Orleans Parish

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an upcoming full closure of Interstate 610 in Orleans Parish.

On Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1 a.m. – 6 a.m., I-610 between St. Bernard Avenue and Elysian Fields Avenue, will be closed for Entergy to perform utility work.

Drivers should use the following alternate routes:

· EB I-610: Exit at St. Bernard Avenue and turn right, turn left onto Gentilly Boulevard (U.S. 90), then turn right onto Elysian Fields Avenue (LA 3021), before entering I-610 EB on the left.
· WB I-610: WB I-10.
· Franklin Avenue: Traffic will be allowed to enter onto WB I-610 to exit at LA 3021 (Elysian Fields Avenue), turn left onto Elysian Fields Avenue, then enter onto I-10 WB on the right.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds all motorists to travel with caution through work zones, in addition to being aware of crews and their equipment.
