BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling more than $30 million at its Dec. 5 public bid opening, according to Gov. Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $6,782,461.10, Prairie Contractors Inc., Opelousas, was the apparent low bidder on the most expensive job let Dec. 5, a project in Beauregard Parish calling for installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 394 from U.S. 171 to La. 113.

Other projects by parish, description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

Avoyelles – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 29 from La. 106 to U.S. 71, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $5,836,044.94.

Caddo – Installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 173 from North Industry Road to La. 1, Best-Yet Builders LLC, Shreveport, $2,634,795.79.

Grant – Clearing and grubbing, installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, concrete slab span bridge and related work to replace the Meade Road Bridge over Walden Bayou, C W & W Contractors Inc., Sibley, $586,411.

Orleans – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on I-510 from the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge to I-10, Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Boutte, $3,264,698.32.

Ouachita – Timber bridge piles, reinstalling bridge caps and spans, and related work on rehabilitating the Bayou Oaks Drive Bridge, Shiloh Contractors Inc., Shreveport, $84,300.

Plaquemines – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 23 from West Point A La Hache to approximately 4 miles south of Port Sulphur, Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Boutte, $3,487,516.

Sabine – Sealing asphalt pavement, pavement patching and related work on La. 120 from U.S. 171 to La. 175, P.R. Parker Co. Inc., Shreveport, $744,671.24.

St. Bernard – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 3238 from La. 46 to La. 39, Boh Bros. Construction Co. LLC, New Orleans, $337,482.10.

St. Charles – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on I-310 from I-10 to the north end of the Mississippi River Bridge, Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Boutte, $876,503.60.

Winn – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on U.S. 84 from Piney Woods Creek to the LaSalle Parish line, D & J Construction Co. Inc., West Monroe, $2,355,263.92.
