The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has prepared, and the Federal Highway Administration has approved for public distribution an Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed interchange connecting Causeway Blvd. (La. 3046) with Earhart Expressway (La. 3139).

The proposed action includes a proposed interchange at Causeway and Earhart that provides all 8 access movements and features a new signalized intersection. A geometric feasibility study and traffic analysis of the two designs has been completed as part of an EA of the impacts of the proposed interchange.

Detailed information relative to the project is available to those interested through copies of the EA. This information is available for review and/or copying at DOTD’s District 02 office, located at 1440 U.S. Hwy. 90, Bridge City, La. Copies of the EA will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting the information, and at a cost equal to the department’s cost of reproduction. The EA is available, for review only, at the Federal Highway Administration Division Office at 5304 Flanders Drive, Suite A, Baton Rouge, La. and at the DOTD Environmental Section Office located at 1201 Capitol Access Road, 5^th Floor, Baton Rouge, La. The EA is also available at the following librairies:

Data and information from the EA will be presented at the hearing along with right-of-way and relocation information. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comments and allow for input on the EA. All interested persons or their representatives are invited to be present at the above time and place for the purpose of becoming acquainted with the highway improvements being considered. Attendees will be afforded an opportunity to express their views concerning the project’s specific location, major design features, and the probably social, economic and environmental effects involved as described in the EA document. Oral comments will be received at the hearing. To enable statements to be presented within a reasonable time period, and for the accuracy of the official hearing record, it is suggested that oral comments be supplemented by presenting important facts and supporting documentation in writing. All written statements or comments bay be submitted at the hearing, or may be mailed to the following address. All entries must be postmarked within ten days following the hearing (Oct. 28, 2007):
