The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration proposes replacement of the Caddo Lake Bridge on LA 1 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana (Structure No. 04090450112421, Recall No. 013970, Louisiana Historic Resource Inventory No. 09-02134). The Caddo Lake Bridge is a multiple-span bridge featuring nine main low (or pony) Warren with polygonal top chord trusses and four reinforced concrete deck girder approach spans. It was constructed in 1940. It is located northeast of Mooringsport in Caddo Parish (approximately Latitude 32.702761, Longitude -93.945291). The overall bridge length is approximately 967 feet with a 24-foot clear roadway width. It has been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion C: Engineering, because it embodies characteristics of the bridge type, few of which remain in Louisiana. The Caddo Lake Bridge retains all of its character-defining features, including the low Warren truss configuration, polygonal top chord, diagonal members, stringers, and connection methods. It maintains integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association.

Pursuant to the Section 106 Programmatic Agreement for Treatment of Louisiana Historic Bridges among the Federal Highway Administration, LADOTD, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the State Historic Preservation Officer, executed on September 21, 2015, the steel truss portions of the bridge are being marketed to potentially interested entities for adaptive reuse.
