US 61: Bayou Manchac & Bayou Francois Bridges, Lane Shift, East Baton Rouge & Ascension Parishes

Construction has begun for State Project H.000337 US 61: Bayou Manchac & Bayou Francois Bridges, East Baton Rouge & Ascension Parishes for a length of 1.490 miles. The type of work is clearing and grubbing, removal of bridges, grading, drainage structures, class II base course, lime treatment, pavement patching, milling asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete pavement, riprap, flexible revetment, precast concrete barrier, temporary detour roads, precast concrete piles, concrete slab span bridge, precast pre-stressed concrete girder bridges, temporary detour bridge (concrete) and related work.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists of upcoming lane shift at Bayou Francois:

Bayou Francois Bridge construction on US 61 (Airline Hwy.) from LA 939 (Purpera Rd.) to ΒΌ mile south of Purpera Rd. traffic shift will take place November 20, 2020. Motorists will remain in the current configuration in a single travel lane going in southbound direction. In the northbound direction motorist will be shifted to the inside lane. This shift is necessary to allow the contractor to begin work in preparation for guardrail removal and installation.
