Original notification:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, I-20 eastbound is CLOSED at the Mississippi River (Madison Parish) crossing into Vicksburg, MS from Louisiana.

This interstate closure is necessary to allow the contractor to move a piece equipment related to the ongoing rehabilitation project on the I-20 Mississippi River Bridge.

This interstate closure is anticipated to last approximately four (4) hours, though DOTD will issue an additional notice when the interstate has been reopened.

Motorists should prepare for possible travel delays and plan an alternate route.

Alternate Route: Total bridge closure in the eastbound direction only. All vehicles must detour either south to US 425 (Vidalia, LA to Natchez, MS) or north to US 278/US 82 (Shives, AR to Greenville, MS).

Safety Reminder:

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
