The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the southbound lanes of LA 23 through the Belle Chasse Tunnel will be closed on Wednesday, June 17, from 8 p.m. until Thursday, June 18, at 4 a.m.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to clean the tunnel. All work is weather permitting.

The closure was originally planned for June 10-11, but was postponed due to the possibility of severe weather.

As an alternate route, motorists can take the Judge Perez Bridge (LA 23) in either direction.
