Peters Road Extension Environmental
Assessment
Jefferson and Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana
The Regional Planning Commission (RPC), in
conjunction with the Crescent City Connection
(CCC) division of the Louisiana Department of
Transportation and Development (LDOTD) and
the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is
planning to extend the existing Peters Road
corridor from its current terminus at Engineers
Road to Belle Chasse Highway (LA Highway
23) in Belle Chasse. The project is State Project
No. 700-26-0258; F.A.P. NO. STP-2602(510) in
Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes. The project
will extend approximately 5.0 miles and will
have one travel lane in each direction. The
project will also include a new bridge over the
Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
Detailed information relative to the project is
available for review to those interested through copies of the Environmental Assessment (EA). This
information is available for review or copying at the following locations July 19, 2004 through
September 1, 2004:

Copies of this data will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting this information, and at a cost equal to the cost of production.
A public hearing to provide a means for the public to express their views on the proposed project has
been scheduled. The purpose of the Hearing is to review the findings of the Peters Road Extension
Environmental Assessment and provide a final opportunity for public comment. Alternatives have
been defined and evaluated and a Preferred Alternative has been identified.
Representatives of the project team will be available on-site to review information on the project prior
to the hearing, starting at 6:00 p.m.
All interested parties and their representatives are invited to be present at the hearing with the purpose
of becoming acquainted with the project and providing comments and input. All written statements or
comments may be submitted at the hearing, or may be mailed to the following address, postmarked
within ten (10) days following the September 1, 2004, hearing (no later than September 11, 2004).
