DOTD Announces June 23, 2004, Bid Letting Results

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling over $110 million at its June 23 public bid opening, according to Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $50,569,158.10, Massman Construction Company, Kansas City, Missouri, was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in Orleans Parish and St. Tammany Parish calling for removal of bridge, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, temporary detour roads, concrete girder span bridge, concrete slab span bridge, three pile supported footing alternates, and related work on the Rigolets Pass Bridge and approaches on US 90.

Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

            Bossier - Grading, drainage structures, class II base course, lime treatment, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete pavement, traffic signalization, concrete slab span bridges, and related work on LA 3105 from I-220 to the Bossier City Urban limits, a distance of approximately 1.4 miles, Best-Yet Builders, LLC, Shreveport, $10,889,677.82.

            Caddo - Superpave asphaltic concrete, cold planing, asphaltic pavement, temporary pavement markings, reflectorized raised pavement markers, plastic pavement striping, plastic pavement symbols, and related work on LA 511 for a distance of approximately 2.574 miles, beginning at LA 3132, Best-Yet Builders, LLC, Shreveport, $231,189.06.

            Catahoula, Concordia, LaSalle - Asphaltic surface treatment, temporary reflectorized pavement markers, reflectorized pavement markers, plastic pavement striping, and related work at various points along LA 126, LA 568 and LA 3259, T.L. Wallace Construction, Inc., Columbia, Mississippi, $126,561.08.

              East Baton Rouge - Clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage structures, lime treatment, class II base course, superpave asphatlic concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete pavement, traffic signalization, and related work on LA 73 from a point approximately 1200 feet northwest of Barringer Foreman Road to a point approximately 2600 feet southeast of Barringer Foreman Road, F.G. Sullivan, Jr. Contractor LLC, $1,206,351.50.

              Franklin - Superpave asphaltic concrete, cold planing asphaltic pavement, temporary pavement markings, reflectorized raised pavement markers, plastic pavement striping, and related work on LA 4 from LA 578 to LA 128, D & J Construction Company, Inc., West Monroe, $369,580.61.

Ouachita - Grading, cold planing asphaltic concrete, class II base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete pavement, asphaltic surface treatment, and related work on LA 594 from LA 15 to Garrett Road, Diamond B. Construction Company, LLC, Alexandria, $1,830,185.48.

Plastic pavement striping and related work on I-20 from a point approximately .32 miles east of LA 617 to a point approximately .48 miles east of Garrett Road, Stars & Stripes Traffic Sys., Inc., Alexandria, $175,592.40.

Tensas - Cleaning and resealing of existing longitudinal and transverse pavement joints, full depth patching of jointed concrete pavement, longitudinal shoulder joints, and related work on US 65 at LA 568 for a distance of approximately 4.99 miles, Holt & Haynes Construction, LLC, Jackson, Tennessee, $ 121,961.90.

            West Baton Rouge - Aggregate surface course, superpave asphaltic concrete, temporary pavement markings, reflectorized raised pavement markers, plastic pavement striping, and related work on LA 76 from LA 415 to LA 1 for a distance of approximately 2.04 miles, Barber Bros. Contracting Co., LLC, Baton Rouge, $292,899.90.
