DOTD Annouces Results of May 26, 2004, Bid Letting

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling over $20 million at its May 26 public bid opening, according to Governor Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $13, 880,648.49, Gilchrist Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in Ouachita Parish calling for grading, drainage structure, base course, subgrade layer, water and sanitary sewer installation, superpave, Portland concrete cement pavement, landscaping, traffic signalization, and related work on US 80 (Desiard St.) from Louisville Ave. approximately 1.141 miles to Gilbert Street.

            Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

East Feliciana – Grading, structural repairs, drilled shafts, scour protection, and related work on the Comite River Bridge on LA 67, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, Baton Rouge, $1,443,772.50.

Jefferson, Orleans – Removal of lead based coating, repainting of structural metalwork, and related work on the Crescent City Connection Bridge #1 on US 90, Texas Bridge Inc., Humble, TX, $2,095,000.

Madison – Raised pavement markers, pavement striping, and related work on
I-20 east and west-bound lanes, from mile 171 to 190, Highway Graphics, Inc., West Monroe, $691,700.

Ouachita – Asphalt widening, overlay, and related work on LA 616, the turn lanes at Good Hope Rd. and Kiroli Rd, D & J Construction Co., Inc., West Monroe, $534,357.70.

Rapides – Aggregate surface course, superpave, pavement patching, raised pavement markers, pavement striping, and related work, on LA 498 from Hwy 71 (Macarthur Dr.) approximately 1.847 miles to Powell Dr., Gilchrist Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, $261,586.48.

St. Tammany – Clearing and grubbing and related work on US 190 and I-10 at the Fremeaux Interchange, Specialty Contractors, Marthaville, $496,994.70.

Winn – Cold planing, superpave, pavement patching, and related work on US 167 from Louisiana Street in Winfield, approximately 1.8 miles to LA 156 north of Winnfield, Gilchrist Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, $730,685.12.
