EXTENDED EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE - US 51 IN TANGIPAHOA PARISH

The emergency road closure on US 51 has been extended until Thursday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. due to ongoing repairs to the roadway. This notice will be updated as necessary.

There will be an emergency road closure on US 51 approximately 0.3 miles north of the intersection of LA 3234 (University Drive) at the Yellow Water Creek bridge in Tangipahoa Parish. The closure will begin on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. and will continue until Wednesday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m (weather permitting). This closure is necessary for crews to repair the bridge retaining wall.

DETOUR: Southbound traffic on US 51 should take LA 1064 east to LA 1065 (North Cherry Street), then south on LA 1065 to LA 3234 (University Ave). Proceed west on LA 3234 (University Ave.) to return to US 51 southbound.

Northbound traffic on US 51 should travel east on LA 3234 (University Ave.) to LA 1065 (North Cherry Street), then north on LA 1065 to LA 1064. Proceed west on LA 1064 to return to US 51 northbound.
